'Starling and night sky' is a little painting of a single starling that has come in to roost for the night on a reed.
In early 2023, a flock of up to 30,000 starlings arrived in the next village. The birds gathered at dusk and performed murmurations before coming down to roost.
This is one of a series of paintings I made that winter as I became obsessed by them! We went out (more or less) 30 nights in a row to witness this incredible spectacle.
An original painting, 'Starling and night sky':
- measures a 13 x 13cm
- is initialled and dated on the front
- is signed in full on the back
It fits perfectly into Ikea's Hovsta frame.
